Above the Plum Tree

New York

This section is all about rediscovering the things that make NYC great. Yes, I’ve been living in this great metropolis for three years, yet I haven’t fully explored everywhere! That’s why I’m going to cover hidden gems, restaurants, coffee shops, everything that makes NYC awesome and makes you want to live here.

Blizzard 2016

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you know that the east coast had a blizzard last weekend.  Therefore, there’s no update on where I went to for fun over the weekend… instead, I filmed a video of the snow for everyone.

The Bowery Electric

VIBE:                       Laid back, rocker, almost an upscale dive bar, on the weekends it’s a younger crowd (NYU students).
DRESS CODE:        Downtown cool, black moto jackets and converse.
ADDRESS:              327 Bowery, New York, NY 10003
ENTERTAINMENT: Every night of the week there is something different.  My favorite singer/songwriter, Jesse Malin, plays there, as well as up and coming indie rock bands.
BEST DRINKS:        I tend to stick to my usual, Bud Light, but it has everything you can think of including wine.
ATPT SCORE:        4 out of 5 trees for being ignored at the bar.  I get that it’s hard to get to everyone, but don’t look directly at me and then go to someone else.

Improvised Shakespeare

Last night I attended the best improv show I think I’ve ever seen: Improvised Shakespeare.

The Improvised Shakespeare Company Logo

If you haven’t heard about it, Improvised Shakespeare is improv in the style of a Shakespearean play.  There are five men in the cast and they improvise a play in the style of Shakespeare.  When I say they speak in the language of Shakespeare, I really mean it.  We are talking about, “Forsooth, who be the soothsayer coming anon?”  And, just like the days of yore, there are no women in the cast.
